f generation: feminism, art, progressions is a collaborative platform for exploring feminism in contemporary art.
2015 marks 40 years since International Women’s Year in 1975. During that year key feminist art events took place at George Paton Gallery, University of Melbourne Student Union. These included a pivotal lecture by renowned international artist and theorist Lucy Lippard and the formation of key feminist resources such as Lip magazine and the Women’s Art Register, still in operation in Melbourne today.
f generation: feminism, art, progressions acknowledges and celebrates this rich history and welcomes contemporary voices into the dialogue, through a grass roots level, inclusive and generative forum and art event.
For Mudfest 2015, f generation will hold an inspiring afternoon of discussion, art and performance. Speakers include students, artists and special guests from Victorian College of the Arts, The University of Melbourne Student Union and the Melbourne art scene. Join the relaxed atmosphere of the discussion Mudclub as this important history and the resurgence of feminist art today is discussed, and help us develop the f generation exhibition content, forthcoming later in the year.
